Happy Birthday Taylor Swift!

December 12, 2010

Taylor Swift isn’t your average female pop-star. She grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania. She won a national poetry contest at age fourteen, and then became the youngest staff songwriter ever hired by Sony Tree publishing house in Nashville.

Taylor’s songwriting style is a lot more personal than most other artists. “If you listen to my albums, it’s like reading my diary,” Taylor says. It’s true – her songs come from the heart. She’s sworn to never write a song that her fans can’t relate to, and this has made her one of the most loved and respected artists around today. The New York Times described Taylor as “one of pop’s finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults.”

Tomorrow is Taylor’s 21st birthday. She’s definitely experienced the bad side of fame in the past few years, including, of course, Kanye West totally crashing her biggest moment at the 2009 VMA’s. She deals with everything through her music though, and wrote about the incident in a song called “Innocent.” Check out the song from her new album:

Taylor performed “Innocent” at the 2010 VMA’s and called a truce with Kanye -she’s a true sweetheart. Oh, and did we mention she’s absolutely gorgeous? Taylor is a natural beauty with naturally perfect curly hair, but she’s got a variety of other ‘dos that look stunning, too. Let’s take a look at some of her trademark styles including those curls, up-do’s, accessories, side buns and stick-straight!

Curls

Taylor’s gorgeous curls became her trademark when she debuted her first album at age sixteen. Her red-carpet styles accentuate her natural ringlets whether she wears them loose or pinned up. Here are some photos of Taylor with her curls flowing free. Those side bangs compliment her face shape perfectly, too:

Up-do’s

Taylor’s glamorous up-do’s are perfect for your next holiday party, New Year’s bash, wedding, prom, you name it! She wears her up-do’s in a few different ways, but the style is always simple and elegant. Here’s an array of Taylor’s up-do’s in different colors and textures. Check out her sleek and straight look in the second photo! Which color do you like best on Taylor – light, golden or honey blonde?

Headbands

Taylor adds some life to her locks with these great accessories. Headbands are her expertise! We can all take a tip from Taylor here – a cute accessory can add a little something extra to just about any style. Plus, a headband is a great cover-up for a bad hair day, though Taylor never seems to have those… anyway, check out these photos of Taylor rocking headbands with diamonds, flowers and colored braids. What do you think?

Side Buns

As you know, I’m a huge fan of all these ballerina-inspired ‘dos in Hollywood! Taylor takes on this trend with a collection of lovely side bun styles. Again, she sticks to her natural curls most of the time, but she does wear a sleek and straight side bun in the second photo:

Straight

Taylor shocked her fans this year by debuting a brand new stick-straight style! I am, of course, a huge fan of this sophisticated look – it’s totally chic and classy, and it shows that Taylor can change her look without straying too far from her own natural beauty.
