Different Make-Up Techniques for New Hair Colors

August 20, 2010

Experimenting with different makeup choices throughout the summer could be exciting and daunting if you don’t know where to start. If you know what works for you it’s hard to break away from the comfort of your tried and true favorites. But for those rebels out there looking for something fresh, apart from your normal routine, then read on because you may be on your way to an inspirational moment!

Do you have an appointment with Lasio Studios for haircoloring? Trying a new hair color and want a basic makeup story for your new colored do? Four different hair colors are listed below with matching makeup palettes to start off with.

  • Warm medium-light hair tones usually call for a subtle lip color to balance the color scheme. Stay away from reds as they may appear harsher depending on your skin tone. Take a look at Kim Kardashian’s brief stint with a warm hair color.

Mainly focus on eye-popping makeup techniques, leave lips understated with a little lipliner for definition

  • Cool brunette hair tones are definitely more tolerable to brighter makeup stories. Katy Perry is the current stencil for this look.

Set your eyes off with a dramatic liner and mascara, define your cheekbones for a structured look and finally apply a rosy hue to your lips.

  • If you wear a platinum blonde do try and stick to a dewy, subdued look. Obviously smoky eyes are a must if your on the way out for an evening of cocktails.

Scarlett Johansson rocks a little bronzer with a shimmery smoked out eye, and a raisin hued lip color. Definitely don't overdo the bronzer; just a touch will do the trick.

  • If you are sporting a vibrant red hair color, plum lip color is key… usually this look works best with porcelain skin tones like Evan Rachel Wood. See below for the look.

Define your cheekbones with a matte blush, and use nude hues in your eye shadow; line your eyes with a dark brown/black liner and coat your lashes in the same color mascara. Use a plum lip color instead of a rosy tone.
